Burn Off

Words by Matt Huxley

You would not believe the fuckery involved in getting this shoot done! First of all my gorgeous photographer Amie’s camera battery malfunctioned and died and then we were informed that the area we were in was scheduled to be burnt off in an hour! What’s a blogger to do? Luckily we managed to fit in these cute snaps before being immolated by fire.

I’m a huge fan of so called “french” styling. I.e combining red, white and navy. It’s a classic colour combo (dat alliteration) and is one that suits a great many people. I recently picked up this houndstooth scarf in the H&M sale for $3 (STEAL) and I absolutely love it. I don’t own any other houndstooth, but it’s a pattern I think I’m definitely going to be on the lookout for!

I completed this look with a navy trench from some market in Asia, a red Calvin Klein long sleeved tee and navy Zu brogues. I dressed this look down by wearing these ripped acidwash jeans from Cotton On, and I really like the contrast between dressy and edgy that it provides.

What are your thoughts on this look? And what looks would you like to see me in? Let me know in the comments!

These photos were taken by the gorgeous Amie Casey, check her out on Instagram @amiecasey.
